on 11:16 AM comments (0)

On October 11 Knowncold.com opened and Known Cold Records started looking for new artists. What started as a net-label project quickly became a label ready to distribute CD's and merchandise. At Known Cold records or KCR for short; started a web magazine to serve the Dubstep Collective with 13 ongoing series of topics ranging from studio production to venue and nightclub reviews.

Included in KCR’s growing list of articles and features is the monthly podcast giveaway 'Known Cold Sessions' and 'Beat Soldiers' a collection of samples for beat mechanics presented every month the 'freebies' page. Known Cold aims to giveaway tons of music, one free single with each release and as well a special mix with each EP or single. All of the proceeds of t-shirts will go directly to helping KCR artists tour the world and spread the message. Known Cold is here!

One of the first artist that KCR found was Aeon also known as Robert G. Aeon blew has terrific production skills. His tech house style is fresh and without the over played wobble. (Not to say we don't like wobble, because we most certainly do!) Aeon's basslines are of the deep sub variety, big throbbing and in some cases downright rude Speaker rumbling crushers:) What struck us most about his debut was how coherent it was. All of his tracks work well together making a truly unique musical expression. Musically the under lying melodies on the Blury Mind EP are pure genius with emotional synth workouts with a house influenced groove*.

In short Aeon is incredible! His beats are compelling, his basslines are sophisticated and his style is extraordinary. This collection of surreal skeletal melodies with dark atmospheres, experimental palettes of enthusiastic synth work, minimal drums and huge pumping sub basses complete this forward thinking producers vision of visceral dubstep.

The EP is already getting support from world renowned producers like DJ Liondub and with a track featured in the Knowledge Magazine mix Kommon Knowledge by komonazuk

“The music is incredible, I'd love to get (those) tracks.” DJ Liondub, LionDub International imprint NYC

Knowncold.com would like to extend a warm welcome to join them as they get started. You should consider knowncold.com as your source to find new artists and free tunes!

Known Cold Exclusive “The General” by Jahdan Blakkamoore / Ticklah / Victor Rice

on 11:16 AM comments (0)

New York roots dub artists Jahdan Blakkamoore,Ticklah and Victor Rice set to release “The General” in seven days has given us advanced access to his new single with “Elimination” on the flipside of the 7” Single.

This brand new label, Liondub45 is intent on releasing a catalog of collectible 7”s focusing on deep, vintage dub and scorching Roots Reggae showcasing the talents of a venerable who’s who of modern Dub producers and original foundation vocalists.

Liondub45 is the new sublabel of LionDub International imprint, which represents the electronic, reggae influenced worlds of Jungle, Drum’n’Bass, and Dubstep sounds.

NYC based producer, keyboard virtuoso, and vintage Reggae producer Victor Axelrod, aka Ticklah. Victor has been a continual and integral part of the NYC music scene for over a decade - as a performer, Ticklah is a founding member of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Antibalas, the Easy Star All-Stars, and worked with Mark Ronson on both the Amy Winehouse and Daniel Merriweather albums. As a producer, Ticklah was behind the boards for the Dub Side Of The Moon album (co-production, mixing), remixed Shaun Escoffery’s classic “Days Like This” (alongside DJ Spinna), produced 2001’s legendary Roots Combination album, and released his own critically acclaimed solo Ticklah Vs. Axelrod LP on NYC Reggae label Easy Star. The list goes on and on…Victor is a man in very high demand from some very big players for his untouchable musical aesthetics, his intricate attention to detail, and a true understanding of our musical past.

Ticklah’s remix of the red hot Jahdan Blakkamoore, whose debut album Buzzrock Warrior on !k7 subsidiary Gold Dust is currently tearing up the charts. Axelrod flips the “The General” into a deep and heavy dub workout complete with an otherworldly skank and analog squelching bass. To the B-Side, “Elimination Game”, a monster slice of dub with a driving Steppers beat, swirling sound effects, deep percussion delays and bubbling organs.

We are giving you a sneak peak of the single with a rough and ready, Known Cold Exclusive 320 MP3(Click here>>) remix of  “The General Remix” from Marcus Visionary.

InfraBuse EP A State of Mind

on 9:39 PM comments (0)

InfraBuse is a one man musical project with roots in Antwerp, Belgium. Neo, the man behind the music, comes from a rock-oriented background, but realized around 2005 that you can have a lot of fun with music software, not to mention total freedom. What initially started as a casual experimenting with sound, synths and samples and slowly grew into something a bit more devoted. The first EP arrived in 2006, called "Simple Shapes and Patterns". It was released on twin labels Metropublic and Retropublic. Also some remixes were done, including the B-tracks of the singles of Canadian industrial metal band Rise of the Fallen and that of Latvian new-wave band StandART. There was also a co-production done with Dutch Rapper Omi for his debut album.

This leads us to the present day. Neo, who took a 3-year break from producing, decided to pick the skill back up around June 2009, which resulted into a second release, coming out in the beginning of 2010, called " A State of Mind EP" : a sonic onslaught of ferocious bass, head cracking drums and complex rhythms. Taking influences from experimental hip-hop, broken beat, and dubstep, InfraBuse has taken a next step in its own evolution, towards crafting its own form of futuristic glitch hop. Taking a nod from the resurgence in the instrumental hip-hop "beats" movement, as well as the growing dubstep "Bass" Oriented culture, InfraBuse has this time injected a much bigger sense of dance floor sensibility into the sound, in an effort to craft it's own niche as new school dance floor sound. Neo is planning on putting a full album out around the summer of 2010, featuring some tracks from the new EP, as well as guest performances and some remixes.
